Access and Conservation
We understand the draw of the outdoors and the rewards you find discovering the world in its natural form. It is our goal to promote active outdoor recreation while protecting the public lands, wilderness areas, and waterways that sustain us all. That’s why we support efforts around the globe and in our own backyard that are dedicated to maintaining and promoting environmentally responsible access to these areas, ensuring the preservation of their continued use for generations to come.
Outfitted with Therm-a-Rest and MSR gear, the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics Traveling Trainers provide hands-on educational workshops and trainings across the U.S. Leave No Trace works to inspire outdoor recreation participation through education of the responsible enjoyment and active stewardship of the outdoors by all people, worldwide. The American Hiking Society National Trails Fund, sponsored by the Therm-a-Rest and MSR brands, offers grants to grassroots organizations working toward protecting and maintaining foot trails and the hiking experience in the U.S. Click here if your organization is interested in applying for a grant. Cascade Designs, Ltd, the European subsidiary of Cascade Designs, Inc., is an initial member of the European Outdoor Conservation Association, established in 2006. The Association aims to fund projects worldwide that protect threatened wild areas for their habitat and recreational value. Winter Wildlands Alliance’s promotion and preservation of winter wildlands for quality snowshoe recreation on public lands in North America is supported by the MSR brand. We’re proud to supply MSR snowshoes to SnowSchool—the largest national program devoted to in-school, on-snow winter ecology field trips for youth. American Whitewater works to restore rivers dewatered by hydropower dams, eliminate water degradation, improve public land management and protect public access to rivers for responsible recreational use. The Access Fund strives to keep climbing areas open and conserve the climbing environment in the U.S. Supported by the Therm-a-Rest and MSR brands, The Access Fund represents over 1.6 million climbers in ALL forms of climbing: Rock Climbing, Ice Climbing, Mountaineering, and Bouldering. As a member, you can keep can keep up-to-date on public policy, stewardship & conservation, grassroots activism, climber education, land acquisition and events in your area.
Washington Trails Association is the voice for hikers in Washington State, Cascade Designs’ own backyard. Supported by the Therm-a-Rest and MSR brands, WTA believes that hiking trails are our link to the wilderness, and works to protect them, take volunteers out to maintain trails, and promote hiking as a healthy, fun way to explore the outdoors. Become a WTA member or volunteer for an upcoming trail work party to help WTA protect the wild lands you love.
The Climbers Access Society of B.C. represents everyone who supports public access to the cliffs and mountains of British Columbia, Canada, and conservation of them. As a corporate member and frequent visitor to B.C. , we encourage anyone who supports their goals to become a member, learn about the issues, and volunteer.

If you are looking for a product donation, and your mission aligns with our access and conservation cause, you may email a request with the following information:
- Your mission, how you are furthering the cause of responsible recreational access and conservation and how a contribution of our products would help further your cause.
- Your specific product request.
- Your organization’s primary contact name, email and phone number.
- Your street shipping address.
Please send AT LEAST TWO MONTHS in advance, and be concise—limiting your proposal to one paragraph with contact information. No phone calls please. Due to the quantity of requests received, we regret that we are unable to respond to every email request. We will only respond if the request aligns with our cause and if we have products available at the time to donate.
At this time, we are not seeking additional non-profit partners.
In the event of a natural disaster, when our gear can help save lives, we work exclusively with Operation USA, an international relief agency based out of Los Angeles. Operation USA works with grass-roots partners on the ground, providing material and financial assistance in the face of a disaster, as well as to combat the effects of systemic poverty.
Since 2004, we have worked with Operation USA to distribute relief supplies in Southeast Asia, Louisiana, Pakistan, California, the Philippines, Indonesia, Samoa, Haiti and Japan.
