ENGINEERING DESIGN TECHNICIAN

General Summary of Responsibilities:

Support design engineers, industrial designers and product specialists from concept generation to prototype construction. Specific duties will be to build and test prototypes, design and build lab fixtures, draft, model and design new product components.

Job Duties:

  • Prototype Construction: Work closely with engineering and design to produce prototypes for Internal concept validation and testing.
  • Product Testing: Design, execute, plan and document product performance testing in the lab and field. Duties may include the design and construction of test fixtures.
  • Commercialization Support: Assist and train commercialization teams to build preproduction samples. Duties will include identifying and solving assembly problems in the factory and with foreign and domestic suppliers.
  • Prototype Sample Archives: Identify and catalog each prototype sample according to brand and version. Keep samples in a controlled environment and manage location and access to historical product prototypes.
  • Change Management: Assist Product Development with making changes to drawings, patterns, designs, materials, and tooling as needed to support ECOs.
  • Design Support: Assist design engineers, product specialists and industrial designers with all levels of the design process from ideation to drafting production ready drawings.
  • Materials Evaluation: Assist in sourcing, developing and evaluating new materials and components.
  • Documentation: Maintain test records, reports and databases as required.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associates degree or equivalent professional experience is required. A four year degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing and product development environment.
  • Experience in a machine shop is preferred.
  • Experience in coordinating and supporting multiple, parallel development projects is preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable regarding materials and processes appropriate for CDI product lines.
  • Experience in the specialty outdoor sporting goods industry is preferred.
  • Broad, recent experience and current activity in human-powered, backcountry, and/or paddling sports is preferred.
  • Experience in coordinating and supporting multiple, parallel development projects is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to conceive and construct test and evaluation devices.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to build precise samples from engineering drawings, knowledge and proven skills in machining and SolidWorks (or comparable CAD program).
  • Must have proven problem solving skills, and the ability to communicate ideas and information so that they are clearly understood by others.

DIRECTOR OF SALES, EMERGING BRANDS

General Summary of Responsibilities:

The Director of Sales is responsible for maximizing the revenue growth of the business unit brand(s). This role will drive the development of the BU sales strategy, including key accounts, sales channels, and regions; ensure effective sell-in for both existing and new products; and represent the voice of the sales force and dealers in the development of product, pricing, and marketing strategies. Position will then partner with Sales to achieve annual sales plans across US, Canada, PacRim, and Direct-to-Consumer regions.

Job Duties:

  • Participate in creation of overall BU and brand strategies, working closely with BU team: Understand the competition and their behavior across sales channels; Be the voice of the reps/accounts for product, pricing, distribution, and marketing decisions; Proactively engage selected reps in early stage planning of product and market strategy.
  • Define, launch, and manage business unit sales strategy, in consultation with Sales; Evaluate greatest opportunities for growth, define strategies, and partner with Sales to implement them. Opportunities could include key account development (both existing and new), region/territory development, sales channel expansion, geographic expansion; Establish strategies for: distribution, MAP, assortment, regional allocation, co-op, promotional discounts, merchandising, direct to consumer.
  • Achieve annual BU revenue targets, in partnership with Sales team; Create annual revenue targets and update forecast periodically; Analyze BU performance vs plan, identify opportunities and challenges, and partner with Sales to maximize results; Serve as primary sales champion and point of contact for each brand.
  • Lead the sell-in strategy for BU, in consultation with Sales. Generally twice annually; Support Brand/Category Directors in the development of pricing in each region; Contribute to decisions on MSRP, based on knowledge of dealer requirements and competitive environment; Develop MAP policy for each brand, including promo windows and discount structure; Lead the development of sales programs and materials. Includes workbook and trade show booth; merchandising/POS; clinic training materials and specials; Create content for Sales Meetings, including agenda and sell-in story /presentations; Represent brands in key account discussions and clinics.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • 8 -10 years progressive sales experience with particular focus on sales strategy and revenue growth. Candidates with outdoor industry experience preferred; additional experience in non-outdoor channels also desired. Must have a demonstrated passion for outdoor activities.
  • BA/BS degree (or equivalent experience), business or marketing preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing sales strategies across multiple geographic regions, sales channels, and account types. Includes new product sell-in, distribution and assortment gains, pricing/MAP, sales programs, and promotions.
  • Able to recognize, qualify, and close business development opportunities with both existing and new accounts.
  • Strong analytical skills – comfortable with database and spreadsheet work to assess revenue performance drivers, develop forecasts, and evaluate ROI on promos.
  • Able to synthesize market information and provide concrete recommendations and action plans.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and relationship building skills.
  • Team-focused with a “can do” attitude.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and databases.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

General Summary of Responsibilities:

Works with Tooling and Fabrication team to build and maintain custom manufacturing equipment. Fabricates or modifies complex machine components using lathes, mills, and a variety of shop equipment and tools. Assists in all aspects of machine construction and maintenance including welding and fabrication, machining, mechanical assembly, wiring, pneumatics, and control systems.

Job Duties:

  • Fabricates parts, assemblies, and tooling for machinery used in manufacturing from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions using precision machine tools, basic shop power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools.
  • Designs and builds jigs, fixtures and special tools as needed.
  • Fabricates prototype parts for new product development.
  • Provides support for new and existing machinery and equipment by assembling, installing, testing, modifying, or repairing electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
  • Provides support for Production Maintenance by fabricating or repairing machine parts when needed.
  • Provides backup support for Production Maintenance by troubleshooting plant equipment or production line problems when needed.
  • Assists or instructs others in the proper and safe use of shop tools and machinery.
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance duties as assigned.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • 2 year technical degree or completion of apprenticeship program, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • 5 years experience in a machine shop, mechanical engineering, or industrial maintenance environment.
  • Precision machining using lathes, mills, drills, saws, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics.
  • Welding and fabricating including TIG welding of aluminum.

FRONT-END WEB DEVELOPER

General Summary of Responsibilities:

The Web Developer helps execute top-class marketing for Cascade Designs. This is achieved by executing web content management and code development for site features and functionality for Cascade Designs’ global specialty outdoor sporting goods business.

Job Duties:

  • Design, develop & implement web-related solutions in pursuit of corporate and brand marketing goals.
  • Work with the Marketing team to create and utilize relevant content in web marketing efforts.
  • Responsible for implementing all aspects of ecommerce site including product availability and ordering systems. Includes Cascade Designs direct-to-consumer and P2P.
  • Partner with Brand Marketing Directors and UI Designer to design and implement user interface that maximizes the browsing experience.
  • Implement technical components to drive traffic to the site. Includes SEO, SEM, online advertising, and email.
  • Provide insight about consumer usage and make recommendations to improve the consumer experience.
  • Monitor and ensure stability of website performance.
  • Develop and test across multiple browsers, platforms, and devices, including smartphones and tablets.
  • Coordinate and oversee QA and testing.
  • Work as a liaison with CDI IT in the supporting systems and IT architecture related to web marketing efforts.
  • Assist as needed with planning efforts related to corporate/brand marketing goals.
  • Lead the budgeting of time and resources required to achieve web marketing goals.
  • Achieve established deadlines within planned resource hours, track and report all tasks/deliverables via an internal project management tool (At Task).

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Web Design, Computer Science, or IT or 5+ year’s work experience.
  • Expert-level skill in HTML, CSS, JQuery, strong skills in JavaScript and working with web-service APIs.
  • Moderate skills in ASP.NET 4.0, including C# coding, web controls, and able to create RESTful APIs.
  • Strong skills in XSLT 1.0 and XPath 1.0.
  • System-level knowledge of ASPDotNetStoreFront 9.4 system architecture.

DEALER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE

General Summary of Responsibilities:

To be a point of contact for CDI’s Dealers , Sales Representatives and E-Commerce Customers in the U.S. and Canada, by responding to e-mail and phone inquiries, and providing them with answers to inquiries, and entering orders for requests for product.

Job Duties:

  • Immediate response to incoming Canadian and US sales phone lines, incoming e-mails and faxes for sales information orders, requests and problem resolution.
  • Interface with Dealers, Sales Reps and Sales Managers to process and track orders, revise existing pre-season orders and enter ASAP orders the same day they are received, with special attention to closeout sales, program orders and e-commerce orders.
  • Cross train within the Dealer Services Department to gain an understanding of all aspects of the position and to cover territories of other Dealer Services Reps.
  • Identify opportunities to suggest or increase sales.
  • Work with internal CDI customers (shipping, credit, inventory status) to ensure Dealers receive the best service in all their interactions from CDI.
  • Maintain CDI’s procedures and reputation with quality service.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Pleasant, courteous and efficient telephone manner.
  • Ability to have excellent customer service approach.
