SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT

General Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for the proper valuation of inventory and cost of goods sold and the dissemination of relevant weekly, monthly and annual reports to key operation personnel within the Seattle facility. Key contact for daily operation issues including Information Technology, Receivables, Payables, Operations, Accounting and Business Units.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the proper valuation of inventory for Seattle & Reno facilities. This involves daily and monthly review of all aspects of manufacturing accounting including standard cost development and resulting manufacturing and purchasing variances. Daily communication with operations is required to explain and resolve issues.
  • Responsible for directing operational month and year end processes. Responsible for meeting month end deadlines and conducting various analysis including obsolescence, work order variances and inventory reconciliation. Also, responsible for proper overhead allocation, various one off month end issues.
  • Instrumental in the company budgeting and inventory valuation process. Work with all disciplines in Seattle & Reno facilities to set proper standard costs to facilitate proper valuation for budgeting. A preliminary budget is created in fall for upcoming year and finalized in fall. Separate costing budgeting/analysis are conducted for winter and medical products.
  • Daily work with operations, accounting, information technology, business units and Ireland to resolve various issues and facilitate proper resolutions.
  • Key contact for the year end audit. Provide multiple prepared by client schedules and perform multiple analysis to assist the audit.
  • Complete and provide several schedules to multiple sources throughout the course of a year. This includes federal and state Schedule 263A.
  • Provide various weekly reports to operations including direct labor, purchase price variance and cost of quality. Work with operations to research and resolve various issues from these reports.
  • Coordinate transfer pricing, calculate TTI and develop the annual price book.
  • Work with CFO and Financial Controller on projects on an as needed basis.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • BA or BS degree required.
  • CPA/CMA required.
  • Five to eight years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of GAAP regulations.
  • Must have knowledge of standard cost systems.
  • Must be able to work with employees in all disciplines in Seattle, Reno and Ireland facilities.
  • Must be able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Detailed oriented and analytical.
  • Must be flexible to meet deadlines and overtime is required during budgeting, pricing and month/year end times.

CATEGORY DIRECTOR- STOVES AND POWER

General Summary of Responsibilities:

The Category Director for Combustion and Power is responsible for developing a strategic plan to achieve category Leadership in the assigned categories. The Category Director will oversee performance of all aspects of the assigned categories and will initiate or take corrective action as required to preserve value, take opportunity.

Job Duties:

  • Monitor the global performance the assigned categories along with competitor activity and market relevant trends.
  • Fully understand the end user and the activities they engage in.
  • Identify opportunities in regards to new product and market solutions that fully connects the BU with the end customer.
  • Develop and maintain a global strategic plan for each product category.
  • Maintain a three year global business plan.
  • Prepare investment proposals, as needed, consistent with the strategy.
  • Lead execution on funded investment to achieve the return scheduled in the original proposal.
  • Monitor the performance of the business as a whole and initiate / take corrective action as required to preserve value or take opportunity.
  • Maintain regulation compliancy and/or resolve compliance issues as it pertains to individual markets.
  • Patents: Coordinate with Marketing services, Product Development, and the Legal department to ensure appropriate patent protection for all assigned products.
  • Regulatory: Coordinate with Loss Prevention Manager and QA to ensure product lines meet all applicable regulatory standards. Understand regulations that govern the design, functionality, or use of the products and translate that to product development teams. Assure (along with QA) that appropriate licenses and permits are obtained and maintained for the sale of products. When possible, represent CDI on relevant regulatory boards or professional agencies (e.g. ASTM, CSA, EN/CE).

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • User specific expert in the assigned categories.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a product development and/or market development role, pertaining to consumer products, preferably pertaining to the categories assigned.
  • Strategic planning ability.

  • Ability to communicate/present clearly and inspire both internal and external customers.

DIGITAL MARKETING COORDINATOR

General Summary of Responsibilities:

The Digital Marketing Coordinator acts as a centralized resource for digital development and supports Cascade Designs’ brands through online channels. This position collaborates with Marketing/Brand Directors and the Web manager to help provide a more usable digital experience. Coordinator is responsible for digital inventory management, coordinating creative assets, and ensuring successful email campaign deliveries.

Job Duties:

  • E-Mail Marketing (40%)-manage the execution of the company’s promotional email campaigns and act as project manager to ensure all campaigns are deployed successfully. Track all email metrics and provide insight on best practices to optimize customer value and campaign results. Manage, update, and organize lists/queries. Manage marketing calendars, file creative assets, test and deploy. Support the success of email marketing by providing insight on best practices, program enhancements, and bring forth new ideas to stay current on new trends and ideas. Liaison between Cascade Designs & CRM Account Manager for E-mail.
  • Manage Digital Assets (25%) - coordinate and centralize creative asset database (logos, product images, lifestyle images, video, graphic elements). Update & maintain Media Valet for all marketing and sales collateral. Maintain user database and permissions to Media Valet. Post videos to CDI website/YouTube. Liaison between Brand Business Units, Sales/Customer Experience, and IT.
  • Photographer/Videographer Liaison (20%)-general communication with our network of photographers/videographers. Gear coordination. Usage rights and contract management. Coordination with teams to schedule creative and online product launches. Assist in developing photo brief as needed.
  • Photography/Videography Production (15%)-work closely with graphic designers, and marketing coordinators to assist in the production of photo and video shoots. In-House photography work (on request as needed). Shoot coordination [location, models, assets]. Act as main contact person with photographer. Provide on-site assistance. Post-production coordination [ensure all assets are collected, client wrap up, approval process].

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • 2+ year’s product marketing experience to both consumers and trade with a strong emphasis on digital marketing (previous outdoor, bike and/or action sports-industry experience a plus).
  • Solid understanding of and experience with Email Marketing principals-analytics, tracking CAN-SPAM laws, best practices.
  • Understanding of web, social, mobile, and emerging technologies.
  • Solid experience with Google Analytics, AdWords, Exact Target.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite-InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere.
  • Familiar with photography licensing, budgeting, tracking.
  • Proficient in Excel-data, tables, graphs.
  • Experience with project management software (At Task or other); able to implement project management methodology that involves a range of tools and tactics to drive projects and meet timelines.
  • Product photography and videography experience a plus.

DESIGN ENGINEER

General Summary of Responsibilities:

Ideate, design, analyze, document and support the research, development, testing and introduction of new and improved products.

Job Duties:

  • Project Planning: Platypus, SealLine, Packtowl, Ecase, Hummingbird.
  • Design Engineering: Conduct engineering analysis, CAD modeling and drafting, detail design, materials and process studies, materials selection, initial BOM development, cost/benefit analyses, and other duties related to product design engineering. Make, change and check CAD models and drawings. Perform dimensional analyses, check tolerance stack-ups, fits and clearances. Authorize changes and assist in and direct ongoing BOM changes. Develop prototypes, draft patterns and layout recommendations, help define production steps and directions, and help develop initial costing for new and revised products. Interface with customers regarding custom product development. Coordinate design and material changes to increase product profitability and maintain or improve product function and quality. Use field, and user feedback to improve product value and performance.
  • Start-up Support: Follow through on production startup of new products. This includes assisting training of in-house production supervisors prior to and including pilot runs, expediting resolution of problems incurred during new production starts, and on-site quality supervision during development and start-up of off-shore contractors.
  • Product Configuration: Draft and/or direct the development of working drawings, specifications, and other documentation for initial and revised product configurations. Work closely with Operations and QA managers to resolve manufacturing issues while upholding company standards. Set standards, define key inspection points and work with PGMs and QA to create product specifications (visual and written) and standards.
  • Change Management: Coordinate changes to patterns, designs, materials and tooling as needed to support the ECOs. Initiate and check change documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Project Leadership & Coordination- Lead and influence cross-functional teams in the effective execution of above projects to meet stated objectives; Review, provide feedback on, and approve creative; Coordinate timelines and budgets to ensure adherence to plan;Track campaign metrics, analyze project results, and report back to team quarterly.
  • Non-Conforming Material Support: Assist in resolving NCR issues as required.
  • Product Testing: Plan, execute/monitor, and support product performance verification testing (lab and field) of designs during the concept development and detail design phases of development.
  • Intellectual Property: Assist in patent applications and reviews and trademark searches.
  • Design Documentation: Document and maintain necessary design and development notebooks, checklists, etc. for the products and projects assigned. Maintain accurate project files.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Education/Certifications: B.S. in Engineering is required, Mechanical or design engineering focus is preferred. Active association and involvement in the field and professional registration is encouraged.
  • Experience: At least four years of progressive design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience in coordinating and supporting multiple, parallel development projects is preferred. Experience in the specialty outdoor sporting goods industry is preferred. Background in industrial design, materials science, textiles, plastics, and/or light assembly/manufacturing is preferred. Recent experience and current activity in human-powered, backcountry and paddling activities is recommended.
  • Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to engineer and develop new products in a manufacturing environment. Skilled in all aspects of design engineering support to product development. Knowledgeable regarding materials and processes appropriate for the product lines. Ability to handle multiple projects in a dynamic, sometimes chaotic environment is expected. Sound decision-making and proven problem-solving skills. The ability to effectively communicate ideas and information while maintaining smooth, cooperative relationships. Excellent verbal and written English skills. Competent in math and statistics. Good interpersonal skills. Proficiency with PCs, spreadsheets, word processing and e-mail. Prefer experience with Solidworks CAD program, MS Project and PowerPoint, and finite element modeling programs.

SEASONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

General Summary of Responsibilities:

To provide customer service, warranty, repair, and technical information to consumers and dealers who contact the company by the 800 lines, web-site or e-mail, and/or, walk into the factory.

Job Duties:

  • Act as initial contact for consumer/retailer support with immediate response to the 800 consumer line and email communication and provide technical repair and warranty question support. Provide resolution to customer conflict with a professional and technically adept manner.
  • Monitor and manage the use of CDI Repair Program/Data entry program.
  • Maintain working relationships with Project Managers, Product Specialists, R& D, Marketing and all internal CDI customers to ensure that lines of communication are open for all product issues and information. Work closely with QA & Product managers concerning product failures and consumer inquiries.
  • Cross train within the Warranty and Repair Department to gain an understanding of all aspects of the position and fill in when necessary.
  • Responsible for organizing, restocking and managing small parts inventory. Ship replacement parts to consumers and dealers as needed with same day action.
  • Support Sales, Reps, and Dealer Service Reps as well as International Distributors with technical, warranty and repair information, and small parts.

US REGIONAL SALES MANAGER

General Summary of Responsibilities:

The US Regional Sales Manager (US RSM) manages the sales, service and business relationships in designated US Region with Independent Sales Agencies, established/new accounts, Key Accounts, and House Accounts. The primary focus of the US RSM is to achieve monthly/quarterly/annual sales plans, and to build long term success for CDI brands within the framework of brand-specific regional and account strategies. The US RSM works with CDI independent Sales Agencies to drive sales, and develops and implements promotional activities within the account base, with special emphasis on Key Accounts. The US RSM is responsible for all aspects of House Account management, using Dealer Sales Services as appropriate for support. The US RSM’s success will be measured by the achievement of BU-specific sales targets in their region, the strength and health of CDI’s account relationships in that region, and account profitability.

Job Duties:

  • BU Interface: Consult with BUs in the creation of BU sales strategies and sales goals for region, and for House/Key accounts; Leads creation of BU sales goals for territories and accounts, as appropriate; Develop coherent CDI tactical sales plans that derive from BU sales strategies; Monitor and distribute sales performance and account profitability reports to appropriate CDI parties (BU) to identify BU and CDI sales problems and opportunities.
  • Rep Management; Provide overall performance management to reps, including corrective guidance when necessary; Hire/fire agencies, in consultation with VP Sales; Ensure effective management of CDI’s independent Sales Agencies; Monitor the performance against target for US independent Sales Agencies; Drive Independent Agencies to meet monthly BU targets via ASAP and fill-in business; Support Sales Agencies with information, problem solving and account management, with or without BU support (as appropriate).
  • Account; Review terms and conditions of, and coordinate signing of Vendor Agreements; Review and support House Account assortment planning; Execute on BU promo discount strategies, in consultation with Bus; Execute on CDI promo discount strategies; Develop, coordinate and monitor effective clinic and service plans in House and Key Accounts to be executed by Sales Agencies; Establish and foster strong business relationships between House and Key Account decision makers and CDI staff, including BUs and the Executive Team – includes coordinating BU participation in House/Key account meetings; Work closely with Operations, Dealer Sales Service specialists and Sales Analytics to ensure forecasts ship on time and complete to House and Key Accounts; Manage monthly push to convert held orders; Train and mentor Dealer/Customer Sales Services staff to assist with House and Key Account service issues; Become account “expert” for House and Key Accounts, serving as an information and intel resource for Bus; Monitor account profitability and take corrective action as needed.
  • Regional: Craft a cogent, effective regional CDI-wide strategy that accommodates each BU strategy, in order to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals; Oversee MAP policy monitoring/enforcement in US region; Budget, implement and track RIP/HIP/TIP spending programs, in consultation with BUs; Consult with BUs on ways to maximize BIP programs; Implement coordinated BU-specific and/or CDI-wide regional and account-specific sales promotions; Coalesce BU sales presentations, materials and programs into appropriate CDI-framed format; Travel to sales territories, key retail promotional and training events and trade shows, where/when appropriate.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Five to eight plus years of experience related to managing the business relationship with independent sales representatives.
  • Proficient and comfortable collating and disseminating sales data.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively articulate and communicate product benefit specifics, as well as report market and consumer requirements back to the organization.
  • The ability to work across multiple departments including, Operations, Marketing, IT and Accounts Payable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with field sales organization.
